Let’s Tell the World about Irish Design! – Wikipedia Editing Hackathon

Date: Saturday, 10 October 2015, 10:30am-15:30pm
SUPPORTED BY LOGO 150dpi COLOURAfter the success of our Ignite event in June, we are inviting you to another exciting day of learning and sharing.  We all know that anybody in the world can edit Wikipedia, adding new articles, expanding existing ones, correcting facts and getting involved in the discussion behind some Wikipedia articles. But have YOU done it? If you did it already, come and share your knowledge with us. If you didn’t, come and learn with us.
On the day, we’ll have two experienced wikipedians- Rebecca O’Neill and Shannon Eichelberger from the Wikimedia Community Ireland- to guide our steps.
As the event is part of the series of IxDA events supported by ID2015- A Year of Irish Design, we are planning to focus on adding new articles (or expanding existing ones) on the topic of Irish Design.
Is there any Irish designer, craftsperson, architect or design-related institution you consider should be mentioned in Wikipedia? Can we do something to increase the number of women designers featured?
Help us build our list of suggestions by either adding it here as a comment, or by tweeting about it and adding the two hashtags of the event: #Wikipedia and #ID2015 .
We will share the list of suggestions we receive, as we probably won’t be able to do everything on Saturday, October 10.
What is listed in Wikipedia on this topic so far:
We’ll take care of tea/coffee  and water on the day, and a light lunch will be served.
Rebecca and Shannon from Wikimedia Community Ireland have created a page for the event on Wikipedia and also suggested a list of topics we could work on.
The event is free and open to anybody who is interested in contributing to Wikipedia in any form or shape, but we’d like to be prepared. That’s why we are asking you to register via Eventbrite this time!
